The Athletic Edge Debuts Aluma Elite Product Line
When the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits needed a tough, long-lasting table that would stand up to challenging conditions like moisture and heavy weight loads but remain lightweight and cost-effective, they turned to The Athletic Edge™, one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of beautifully designed and rugged products for athletic trainers, physical therapists and other health care providers.
The result of that collaboration is The Athletic Edge™’s new Aluma Elite product line, a patent-pending series featuring a treatment table, taping station, taping table, modality cart, single and dual whirlpool tables and cabinets, all crafted of strong yet lightweight aluminum. Aluminum offers another unique solution for athletic trainers and others seeking high-end, ultra-durable products.
“Since our initial product offering five years ago, The Athletic Edge™ has continued to develop cutting-edge products—often working in collaboration with athletic trainers and teams to design a better product to fit the needs of their unique training facilities,” said Jim Engels, CEO of The Athletic Edge™. “Our goal is to provide our clients with a wide range of products that they can successfully use every day—products that we continue to evolve thanks to their valuable feedback. The Aluma Elite series is the latest example of that.”
The secret behind the Aluma Elite product line’s durability and cost effectiveness is its patent-pending extrusion. Other aluminum products in the athletic market are welded, leading to significant freight costs since they must be shipped assembled. The Aluma Elite’s patent-pending feature, however, allows all of its products to be shipped unassembled at a much lower cost (buyers may also choose for products to be shipped assembled). In addition, this feature makes repairs, if they are ever needed, simple and cost-effective to address in the field.
Other unique features of the Aluma Elite product line include two finish options—custom team colors or a wood-grain powder-coat finish that exactly mimics the aesthetics of wood—along with graphics packages that feature team logos. Load capacity ranges from 500 to 750 lbs., while aluminum construction means that the products themselves weigh up to 50 percent less than similar wood or laminate products. In addition, each product in the Aluma Elite series is fitted with options specifically designed to exceed athletic trainers’ day-to-day needs, including tape shelves, storage capabilities and lift backs for athlete comfort and optimum ergonomics for practitioners during treatment. All products also come with a limited lifetime warranty and are made in the USA.
“The new Aluma Elite series is a fantastic tool—ergonomically, pragmatically and aesthetically,” said Owen Stanley, M.S., ATC, CSCS, NREMT, assistant athletic director and director of sports medicine at South Dakota State University. “It not only has added greatly to the look and functionality we wanted to accomplish in our new hydrotherapy room, but there is nothing else that beats its durability, function and cost-effectiveness.”
